YMCA - the new MAGA anthem

Chaotic, random and ideologically inconsistent.  Three words that accurately describe the incoming President of the United States. But not, intriguingly, directed at his policy interventions and executive orders that he’s planning to sign within moments of reaching the Oval office.  The adjectives above are description of his choice of ‘YMCA’ by the Village People as a campaign anthem. Professor James Garratt, the author of Music and Politics: A Critical Introduction, told the BBC, "since unlike other politicians, he doesn't seem to care…this is, after all, a man who has repeatedly switched his political allegiances, and his songbook similarly lurches around eclectically”. And the song’s history as a rabble rouser is equally unusual: faced with a legal ‘cease and desist’ letter for using the song originally by the song’s writer Victor Willis, the composer has since done a neat volte face after spotting the millions of dollars cascading into his bank account thanks to the associated publicity. As the Professor opines, Trump is unpredictable, maverick and off the scale in terms of predictability - which is probably the only actual predictable thing we can say about the next 4 years in Washington.
