Proper, fast, reliable Wi-Fi… on a train!
It’s only taken 12 years since I first worked with Network Rail on the near-impossible challenge of delivering internet at speed – while barrelling along at over 100mph in what is essentially a Faraday cage. But it seems the day has finally arrived.
Jumping on an Azuma from Peterborough to Edinburgh last night, I was genuinely blown away by the seamless connectivity. Four hours to Waverley with stable Wi-Fi all the way – no fuss, no faff.
Now, I know I do tend to go on about train travel here on LinkedIn – but when you're a regular on the British rail network and depend on what should now be a basic 'human right' (free Wi-Fi) to get work done, it’s frustrating when some operators still fall short.
So thank you, – for a smooth, productive, and dare I say enjoyable journey. And of course, a big shout-out to your staff, who were friendly, helpful… and very generous with the booze trolley.
