Good news for good news!

ree

An upbeat takeaway from the Press Gazette’s analysis (below) of the most popular news websites: when it really matters, media consumers are still turning to the big brands with trusted journalistic integrity for their daily updates.

Sure, it’s a fast-moving, unpredictable and volatile market (did BBC Good Food ever dream of being a "news heavyweight"? 🤔🍴), but this trend should offer some reassurance to those worried that lightweight aggregators might erode traditional journalism.

That said, the big question looms: is this model sustainable? The Reuters annual report points out that while paywalls are becoming more common, most online news remains free. And let’s face it—free is hard to argue with. But as the Press Gazette highlights, when it comes to real news content, people are still gravitating towards the real deal.
