Booming Demand, Limited Carriages: The CrossCountry Rail Squeeze Continues

Another day, another ‘ram packed’ (sic) CrossCountry Trains ‘tube’. This time from Birmingham to Bristol. Disappointing that the DfT don’t see fit to cascade additional carriages from elsewhere on to these unbelievably and undoubtedly popular routes. I believe it’s a legacy issue from when XC got the franchise in 2006. Having experienced an almost empty Avanti West Coast train to Warrington last night - it seems we have truly moved into the age of the two tier British train service that’s getting more expensive every year. The staff on XC couldn’t be more helpful, I get the distinct feeling they’re as fed up as the rest of us!
